People with a learning disability and/or autism have the right to the same opportunities as anyone else; to live satisfying and varied lives and to be treated with dignity and respect.

Like everyone else, people with a learning disability and/or autism should be able to expect to live in their own home or another place of care within their local community, to develop and maintain positive relationships, and to receive the support they need to be healthy, safe, and an active part in society.

Our aim is that hospital admissions for people with a learning disability should be a last resort, of high quality, integrated with community services, and focus on people’s recovery so that they can be discharged back to the community in a timely way.

To do this we are planning to redesign inpatient services and to invest in community and primary preventative services for people with a learning disability and/or autism. We are asking for your views on our proposals.

What we are asking you

This consultation is to gather the views and opinions of the public on the proposal to close inpatient beds in order to invest in community-based services and alternatives to hospital admission for patients with learning disabilities and/or autism in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

This consultation runs from 9am on 10 August 2018 until 5pm on 12 October 2018.
