Available here. Amended to:
- include vaccination in line with recommendations for the management of diphtheria or polio
- remove exclusions regarding timing of previous vaccination (see dose section for schedules)
- remove exclusions relating to neurological conditions, encephalopathy and Guillain Barre/brachial neuritis and relevant advice moved to the cautions section
- update off-label section in relation to amended indications
- update dose section with management of cases and contacts of polio and diphtheria

Available here. This replaces the version currently in use. Please replace this with the new version attached. This PGD reflects the new service specification for this year, accommodating the changes to the eligibility and allowing for vaccination on or after the 70th or 78th birthday.

- Simple preventive actions by parents linked to fewer child injuries Children under five years are especially at risk from unintentional injuries in and around the home. The annual cost of emergency admissions related to such injuries was estimated at £36 million! A recent study by Kendrick et al. found education and provision of safety advice to parents to be highly effective in tackling the scale of these avoidable injuries.
- Carefully managed antibiotic use could halve antibiotic-resistant infections Promoting the appropriate use of antibiotics (antibiotic stewardship) could halve the number of infections due to antibiotic-resistant bacteria compared with unguided prescribing. Combining this with hand hygiene, such as washing hands with soap and water and using alcohol-based hand-rubs, could reduce antibiotic resistance further.
- NIHR Short Placement Award for Research Collaboration (SPARC)The Short Placement Award for Research Collaboration (SPARC) has just been launched by the NIHR to support early stage researchers to spend time in other parts of the NIHR. It is specifically designed to foster collaboration and enhance the researcher's early career. Deadline for applications is 1pm, 5th December 2017.
- Knit a neuron! The School for Primary Care Research hosted a science engagement activity on 29th September 2017 where members of the public crafted neurons which they attached to create a giant neural network of ‘memories’. Members of the public from aged 4 years and upwards sat with scientists to learn about healthcare research, and how they can get involved in the future as participants or public contributors

Improving Access to General Practice Webinars *new
NHS England have announced some additional dates to the webinars they have been running on the next steps for improving access to general practice. The webinars repeat content covered through earlier webinars, including the seven core requirements and what this means for those working in general practice, key messages and FAQs, and will provide an update on resources available nationally to support rollout. General Practice Transformation Champions event – 22 November 2017, London
Following the success of NHS England’s event in March 2017, NHS England are running another General Practice Transformation Champions event on 22 November 2017 in London. The conference is for anyone involved in leading improvement and transformation in general practice in the NHS, from GPs, practice managers and other primary care professionals, to commissioners and STPs.

FREE Diabetes Education Online Training (CDEP)
We are pleased to have secured funding to enable our clinicians FREE access to the Cambridge Diabetes Education Programme (CDEP).
