One of the positive comments from an attendee on the day was that the event was, “Very inspiring – there is a future for primary care”.

We will shortly be following up with full presentation details, the video link, FAQs, and next steps. Look out for further emails!

Research updates

Please see below the latest developments from the world of healthcare Research and Innovation:

  • NIHR annual clinical research activity league tables released: NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG has done incredibly well this year, increasing its number of recruiting studies and recruited participants by 14% and 23.5% respectively; placing us third amongst other CCG's for clinical research.
  • Vitamin D protects against severe asthma attacks: Taking oral vitamin D supplements in addition to standard asthma medication could halve the risk of asthma attacks requiring hospital attendance, according to research funded by the NIHR. Vitamin D is thought to protect against asthma attacks by boosting immune responses to respiratory viruses and dampening down harmful airway inflammation.
  • My research inspiration: getting evidence into practice. Professor Robbie Foy’s drive to question the status quo and promote evidence-based healthcare has inspired his career in implementation research. Read about his NIHR-funded research on closing the gaps between evidence and practice.
