Reminder: Call for Nominations to CCG Governing Body

We are looking for well-respected and forward-thinking GPs who are passionate about ensuring we have sustainable health care for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to stand for nomination as members of our Governing Body.

All GPs - locums, salaried GPs, and partners - working in our Clinical Commissioning Group’s area, and on the performers’ list, are eligible to stand for election. We would like to see the Governing Body represent the diverse nature of the population and our geographical area.

Number of GP posts up for election:

  • One GP representatives on our CCG Governing Body.

Length of tenure:

  • The period of tenure for all posts up for election in 2017 will be three years (to 2020).

Interested parties should complete the nomination form and return it to the LMC by 5pm on Friday 21 July 2017. We would prefer nominations to be returned electronically and they must include a photograph.

Fertility services consultation

We are continuing to consult on proposals to stop funding specialised fertility treatment in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
Practice staff, patients and public are encouraged to take part in the consultation and to give us your views on the proposal. The consultation document and link to the online survey can be found here: https://www.cambridgeshireandpeterboroughccg.nhs.uk/get-involved/consultations/ivfconsultation/ 
Four public meetings have already been held, upcoming meetings are on:

  • 18 July, 6-7pm at the Cathedral Centre, Ely, CB7 4EW
  • 20 July, 12.30-1.30pm at the Central Library, Cambridge, CB2 3QD
  • 20 July 6-7pm at the Meadows Centre, Cambridge, CB4 3XJ

The deadline for responses to the consultation is 5pm on 31 July 2017.

Survey for GP Cancer Masterclass events

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG are co-ordinating with Macmillan Cancer Support in planning FULLY FUNDED GP Cancer Masterclass educational events. We intend to offer events in both Peterborough and Cambridge.

We thank you for your support for implementing NICE guidelines (NG12) for suspected cancer in your clinical practice.  As a CCG, we are actively looking at ways to improve cancer diagnosis and post diagnostic support.

RCGP East Anglia Faculty 2017 Practice Team Awards

This year’s Practice Team Awards Ceremony will take place on Thursday 21 September at the Bedford Lodge Hotel, Newmarket, Suffolk.

This is a good chance to nominate your colleagues and teams for all the amazing work they do in primary care, the award categories are:

The event will be an evening of celebration of what is good about General Practice, after the presentations and photographs there is a hot buffet supper for everyone to relax and enjoy.

Ambulance Response Programme

A national announcement from NHS England about changes to the Ambulance Response Programme has been made. The changes focus on reviewed ambulance response times and patient categorisation when they call 999 and triaging. Please see https://www.england.nhs.uk/ for more information.

PHE Health Profile of England

PHE has published a milestone report into the health of the population in England. The Health Profile for England report is the first time PHE has used its wealth of population health data to give an overall picture of the health of England.

Practice Managers Networking Event

NHS England are hosting a Practice Managers networking event on 5 September 2017 at the Kia Oval, London. The event will provide an update on the General Practice Forward View as well as updates on the 10 High Impact Actions, training and development opportunities, including leadership for this year. Saturday opening at the Dementia Resource Centre (Peterborough)

The Alzheimer’s Society are holding an open day on Saturday 15th July to give free advice to anyone with questions about dementia. The flyer is on the website here
