Specialist IVF services to be suspended in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

At the Governing Body meeting on Tuesday 5 September the CCG made the difficult decision to suspend routinely commissioning specialist fertility services, until April 2019. Further information can be found in the news release here.

Invitation to CCG Annual General Meeting on 19 September 2017

Our Annual General Meeting will take place on Tuesday 19 September 2017 at 6.00pm in the Council Chamber, East Cambridgeshire District Council, The Grange, Nutholt Lane, Ely, CB7 4EE.

At the meeting we will present our annual report and accounts as well as reflecting on the past year’s successes and challenges.

Healthcare Support Worker Conference

  • Summary of the 2016/2017 CRN patient research experience survey results A two-sided summary flyer on the results of the 2016/17 CRN Patient Research Experience survey is now available.   • Primary care: RCGP and CRN research awards – deadline for entries extended The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and Clinical Research Network research awards are now open until 12 noon on 4 September 2017 for entries. The Awards recognise outstanding contributions of NHS general practices and First5® GPs to the conduct of NIHR Clinical Research Network Portfolio studies in a primary care setting.   
  • Cardiovascular: 'NIHR support for the research has been essential' The results of the REVEAL study show the National Institute for Health Research as a key player in the fight against heart and circulatory disease. The results, presented yesterday at the European Society of Cardiology Congress (ESC) in Barcelona, concluded that anacetrapib lowers the risk of heart attack and related cardiovascular complications among patients who are receiving intensive statin treatment.  
  • Large studies find screening reduces mortality for those with detectable type 2 diabetes but not for general population Three large trials involving researchers from the MRC Epidemiology Unit and the Department of Public Health and Primary Care show that screening for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular risk factors may not reduce mortality and cardiovascular disease in the general population. Lorenzo – the new patient record system

East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust’s Digital Transformation programme will help clinicians work in new ways with information-driven care. The systems associated, Lorenzo (an electronic patient record system) and Nervecentre (an electronic observations system), are going live on 9 September 2017.  

The aim is to provide hospital staff with access to real-time patient records, supporting clinicians and administrators in making informed decisions along the care pathway and across care settings and health communities. Click here for more information.

GP High Impact Action Webinars

NHS England has announced forthcoming webinars for GPs and others working in Primary Care, on the 10 High Impact Actions as part of the GP Forward View. These start from 12 September and run until December 2017. The 10 High Impact Actions are a collection of ways to improve workload and improve care through working smarter, not harder. In each webinar, delegates will hear about a specific action from people with first-hand experience and there will be plenty of time for questions.
