GP Patient Survey results
The findings of the latest GP Patient Survey have been published and they show the majority of people are positive about their GP care - with eight out of ten patients rating their overall experience of their GP surgery as good. The findings can be found here.

NHS England has produced an accessible version of the ‘What happens when your doctor asks you to see a specialist?’ leaflet, which describes what people can expect to happen when their GP refers them to see a specialist or consultant, at a hospital or a community health centre. The information can be found here.
Clinical Pharmacists Evaluation Report
The University of Nottingham has published a report of the evaluation of the clinical pharmacists scheme wave 1 pilot. The evaluation found that the role of clinical pharmacist has had a wide ranging impact on the work in General Practice, most notably on contributing to improved capacity and changes in workload, and in medicines optimisation and safety. The report can be accessed here.

Police Commissioner launches new website to help victims of crime
POLICE and Crime Commissioner, Jason Ablewhite is today (7th August) launching a new, independent and confidential Victim Services website for victims and witnesses of crime across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
The Victim Services website, funded by the Commissioner, provides victims and witness with clear and simple information about available support and how to access it, whatever the crime. The website also provides a service directory.
Police and Crime Commissioners are responsible for commissioning local support services for victims of crime and receive a grant each year from the Ministry of Justice to enable the provision of services which best meet the needs of local victims of crime.
In Cambridgeshire, end to end support is provided through the Cambridgeshire Victim and Witness Hub. Victim and Witness Care Coordinators provide emotional and practical support to anyone affected by crime from the point of reporting through any criminal justice process including giving evidence at court. The Hub also links into hundreds of specialist services.
The Commissioner sees the website as a vital tool to ensure victims of crime know what information and support is available to them and who to request help from if they are not already receiving it.
Following engagement with victim service providers across the county, the website has been developed by local company Chameleon, to compliment the support offered by the Victim and Witness Hub.

Consultation on changes to provision of inpatient beds for people with learning disabilities
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG has launched the ‘Community First’ consultation on proposed changes to the provision of inpatient beds for people with a learning disability in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
People with a learning disability and/or autism have the right to the same opportunities as anyone else; to live satisfying and varied lives and to be treated with dignity and respect.
Like everyone else, people with a learning disability and/or autism should be able to expect to live in their own home or another place of care within their local community, to develop and maintain positive relationships, and to receive the support they need to be healthy, safe, and an active part in society.
Our aim is that hospital admissions for people with a learning disability should be a last resort, of high quality, integrated with community services, and focus on people’s recovery so that they can be discharged back to the community in a timely way.
To do this we are planning to redesign inpatient services and to invest in community and primary preventative services for people with a learning disability and/or autism.
We are asking for your views on our proposals.

Cancer rating
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ for cancer by NHS England. We were one of only 14 CCGs to be given an outstanding rating. The rating are based on one-year survival, stage at diagnosis, 62 days and patient experience. The assessments are now live on the NHS England website
Reminder: Completion of At Scale Readiness+ Assessment
We would like to thank everybody who has taken part in the At Scale Readiness+ Assessment Tool so far – hopefully you have found your practice reports helpful and informative!
We just wanted to remind you that this Assessment Tool is open to all practices – regardless of whether you are considering at scale working or not.
Just by working through the questions themselves, you will be prompted to consider what actions would be required should you choose to consider working at scale in future.
Once you have submitted your assessment you will get a personalised report which provides a detailed snap shot of your current state of readiness and highlights what key areas you might want to focus on should you choose to consider at scale working in the future.
You will also be given the opportunity to have a telephone conversation with the At Scale team to discuss your results and answer any questions that you may have.
We would highly encourage you to take part – even if you don’t feel it is needed now, it will likely prove useful for future business planning.
Practices will need to complete this by 24 August 2018.

August bank holiday communications toolkit
The CCG has produced a simple communications toolkit to help GP practices raise awareness of alternative services available over the August holiday weekends. This includes website copy, videos and suggested social media activity. You can access this on the Healthcare professionals’ area of the CCG website here.

- NHS England Evidence-Based Interventions programme Research evidence shows some interventions are not clinically effective or only effective when they are performed in specific circumstances. And as medical science advances, some interventions are superseded by those that are less invasive or more effective. At both national and local levels, there is a general consensus that more needs to be done to ensure the least effective interventions are not routinely performed, or only performed in more clearly defined circumstances. NHS England has formed a new national collaboration with the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, NICE, NHS Clinical Commissioners and NHS Improvement' GIRFT programme to turn this consensus into action - the Evidence Based Interventions Programme.
- Can we promote physical activity at the population level? Findings from a community-based cluster randomised trial and a sport fandom-based app study Seminar from Dr Masamitsu Kamada, University of Tokyo. Effective population strategies to promote physical activity are needed to reduce the global burden of non-communicable diseases stemming from physical inactivity. However, evidence from a few short-term trials has highlighted the difficulty of achieving population-level improvements in physical activity through multi-strategic community-wide interventions. Friday 19 October 2018, 11:00-12:00.
- Evidence flowers: visual summaries of evidence for patients and health professionals Opeyemi Babatunde, researcher at Keele University, blogs about the challenges of making evidence from clinical guidelines or systematic reviews accessible and introduces “Evidence Flowers” as a novel way of providing a visual summary of research evidence.

Improvement Leaders programme - applications open!
Applications for the next two cohorts of the General Practice Improvement Leaders programme starting are open. The programme is aimed at those working in general practice and is designed to equip participants with tools and techniques for making improvements and for engaging others to work with you to make changes. Participants must bring a small, focused project (which may be part of a larger ambition) to work actively on during the programme. Find out more along with details on how to apply.
GP online services webinars for Patient Participation Group members
NHS England’s primary care digital transformation team is holding a series of free webinars aimed at Patient Participation Group (PPG) members to help them understand all about GP online services and how they can support their local GP practice to encourage more patients to register for the service.
The webinars will last between 60-90 minutes and the dates are:
