2ww Urology Referral

There has been an exceptional and sustained increase in prostate 2ww referrals recently. The guidance for these referrals is already on the 2ww forms. Both CUH and NWAFT have requested to be able to reject referrals where the appropriate tests have not been carried out. In particular, patients with a single raised PSA and a normal DRE require exclusion of an infection and repeat PSA 6 weeks later if infection confirmed and treated. In addition, those patients with no symptoms and a PSA below 10 require a repeat PSA after 4 weeks.

Read the attached letter here (also sent out directly from the CAPCCG Gateway).

May bank holiday communications toolkit

The CCG has produced a simple communications toolkit to help GP practices raise awareness of alternative services available over the bank holiday weekends.  This includes website copy, videos and suggested social media activity. You can access this on the Healthcare professionals’ area of the CCG website HERE.

If you would like any further information or guidance on how to use any of these resources within your practice please contact the CCG communications team at capccg.contact@nhs.net We would also welcome any feedback on any of the communication toolkits (are they useful?  What else could it include?) so we can ensure the content is relevant and of use.

Reminder: Significant Event Analysis (SEA)

As part of shared learning, we are studying the experiences of GPs where cancer was diagnosed following an emergency presentation.  We request the support of your Practice through completing a Significant Event Analysis (SEA), and request to complete and share the attached dataset for submitting a hypothetical scenario of a cancer diagnosis following presentation as an emergency to secondary care.

Please see the attached letter and questionnaire for more information.

We would very much appreciate your support and participation in completion of this audit as the more engagement from practices we receive, the more value is added to the learning event which will be held later in the year.
