Do your patients use the NHSApp?
Some practices worry their older population won’t be able to use NHSApp but an Ofcom report suggests more and more over 65s are using digital technology.
Digital tools can empower patients to take control of their own health and care. Our digital inclusion guide could help you help patients get on board.
Have you promoted NHSApp to your patient list? There are lots of tools you can use to help raise awareness of it already for you to use. It includes:
- a text message that can be sent to all patients with details of how to sign up
- a message to leave on practice answerphones, on websites or to send out to patients by email
- advice on social media posts
- downloadable posters and leaflets to place around reception and waiting areas
- a short film for waiting room screens.
REMINDER: festive season communications toolkit
As part of the CCGs ongoing winter campaign all practices have access to the winter communications toolkit on the CCG Health Professional website HERE. This includes copy that can be used on practice websites, posters for patient waiting areas and suggested social media content on key topics such as Christmas/NY opening hours, reminder for repeat prescriptions, winter illnesses and general self care.
In addition, there are a range of patient information leaflets now available in 11 languages on the new translated resources comms toolkit HERE.
For further information or guidance on using the toolkit please contact capccg.contact@nhs.net

GP practices using SystmOne receiving flu vaccination details directly from pharmacy systems
NHS Digital recently piloted sending electronic flu vaccination notifications from pharmacies that use PharmOutcomes to TPP SystmOne GP practices. The notifications arrive as a workflow task and include ‘structured’ information which means vaccine details can be added directly to a patient’s GP record, without having to transcribe the information manually.
The pilot in the Leeds area was successful and so, with the support of PSNC, we rolled out the new functionality to community pharmacies and GP practices in the North West and North East and Yorkshire areas last month.
From Thursday 12 December 2019, the new functionality is being rolled out to all remaining NHS England regions, East of England, London, Midlands, South East and South West. More information is available on the NHS Digital website.
