National offer – self referral
There are a number of national drive through testing facilities open across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to make it as easy as possible for people to access testing opportunities. Staff can self refer to be tested online.
Regional testing sites include Cambridge Milton Park & Ride, Peterborough East of England Showground and Stansted. Additional local testing sites can now be found at Cambridge Abbey Leisure and Peterborough Gladstone Park. There are also mobile testing units located in Wisbech, St Neots, Ely, Cambridge, Huntingdon and Peterborough. These mobile site locations will vary week on week.
Staff will be notified of closest site to them when booking. Further information on who can be tested is available.
Local staff testing route - employer referral
Working with our partners, the CCG has been able to organise a local antigen swabbing referral pathway for primary care, community pharmacy and local authority key workers.
In the first instance, all staff should try to access testing via the national route outlined above. However, if staff are unable to access a test within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough then employing organisations can refer staff through this local referral pathway.
To refer a member of staff please complete the referral form and send this to firstname.lastname@example.org.

NHS Test and Trace are making Covid swab testing available to all General Practices in England. The service will be available to all practices on a voluntary, opt in basis. Members of the public will continue to be directed to drive through, walk in and home testing services. Full guidance on registering and using the service is available.
Visiting Professionals Pilot
The Department of Health and Social Care is working with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG and the Northamptonshire CCG to deliver a pilot for testing “visiting professionals” to care homes.
The pilot will trial weekly asymptomatic testing for professionals that visit care homes “two or more times each week and where carrying out their role requires them to be within 1m of residents”.
In addition to aiming to reduce transmission through identifying visiting professionals who may have COVID-19 but not have symptoms, the purpose of this pilot is to:
- To understand more about the prevalence of COVID-19 amongst visiting professionals
- To develop a method of carrying out testing of visiting professionals and trial this approach.
- To understand the number of professionals who meet this definition in the pilot areas – in order to understand the testing capacity this would require in order to be scaled up beyond the pilot sites.
If you have any queries relating to this pilot, please email email@example.com.

Staff Risk Assessment
Ensuring the safety of our staff as well as our patients during Covid is a top priority for all healthcare services in the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough system. Part of the system-wide approach to staff safety is the need to undertake a risk assessment for all of our colleagues working in clinical settings during this time. All practices are asked to complete A Risk Assessment for all staff.
