Dr Amrit Takhar, who is a senior partner and research lead at the rural practice as well as the Clinical Research and Cardiovascular Lead for the CCG, accepted the award in London on 24 October. The national Clinical Research Practice Award is run jointly by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and the RCGP, and celebrates research active NHS GPs and practices who demonstrate excellence and innovation in delivering NIHR research.

Over the last 20 years, Wansford and Kings Cliffe Practice has given over 1,500 patients the chance to participate in research in more than 60 clinical studies. They have also joined a cluster of practices in the area who collectively have two dedicated research nurses as well as a trials coordinator.

Jan Thomas, Accountable Officer at the CCG, said:

“On behalf of everyone at the CCG I’d like to congratulate all of the team at Wansford and Kings Cliffe Practice for winning the prestigious Clinical Research Practice award at this year’s Royal College of General Practitioners Annual Conference.
