The Awards recognise health and care staff for their contribution to the NHS are nominated by the CCG’s local Member of Parliament.

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG’s Complex Cases Team’s Implementation of The Care Needs Test Pathway and the Wellbeing Pilot for Syrian Refugees were both chosen to represent the Eastern region in the nation finals next year. The Wellbeing Pilot helped support Syrian refugees who had resettled in the UK by providing therapeutic support, group or 1-2-1 work and psychotherapy. The pilot helped with a variety of problems such as anxiety, bereavement and PTSD. Following the pilot the CCG were invited by The Home Office to present the Wellbeing Service to other CCG and national stakeholders.

Complex Cases Team’s Implementation of The Care Needs Test Pathway ensure patients with complex health needs are identified and the appropriate level of care is provided upon discharge from hospital. This means that patients’ care is not delayed, the correct level of services are provided and overall mean a smooth transition from hospital to community care. This helps those with the most complex health needs to have their care managed safely and appropriately.

Jan Thomas, Accountable Officer at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG, said, “I’m delighted that two of our teams are regional winners for the Eastern Region in the NHS Parliamentary Awards this year. These two projects encompass our CCG’s values showing innovation, ambition and compassionate.

“Winning these awards highlights our staff put patients at the heart of their work and I’m so proud this has been recognised at a regional level.”

The Wellbeing Pilot was nominated by Rt Hon Stephen Barclay MP, Jonathan Djanogly MP, Lucy Frazer QC MP and Shailesh Vara MP. The Care Needs Test Pathway was nominated by Rt Hon Stephen Barclay MP, Paul Bristow MP, Jonathan Djanogly MP, Lucy Frazer QC MP, Shailesh Vara MP and Daniel Zeichner MP.

The CCG’s regional winners will now go forward to the national finals, with overall winners being announced next year. The NHS Parliamentary Awards see MPs and NHS leaders join forces to honour health and care staff who have helped to improve treatment for patients. The judges, drawn from across the NHS, have today selected the 10 regional winners who have been selected from over 147 nominations, one in each of the 10 categories.
