Cambridge and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group are teaming up with the British Lung Foundation to offer you FREE lung screening at Love Your Lungs events across Peterborough and Wisbech this autumn.
Respiratory professionals and stop smoking advisors will be on hand to provide free advice and information on how to reduce your chance of getting a serious lung disease, as well as free lung function tests.
Dr Mark Brookes, local GP said “It is extremely important to have your lungs checked, especially if you have a persistent cough or often find yourself wheezy. All sorts of factors contribute to lung diseases such as smoking and exposure to fumes and dust at work. So if any of these do apply to you I would urge you to go and get checked.”
The events will be run:
- Tuesday 26 September (10am-4pm)
Tesco Superstore, The Werrington Centre, Staniland Way, PE4 6NA
- Wednesday 27 September (10am-4pm)
Serpentine Green Shopping Centre, Peterborough, PE7 8BE

Dr Stuart Shields added: ”There are high numbers of people with respiratory conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) across our area; in particular across Peterborough and Wisbech. That’s why we’re working with the British Lung Foundation to raise awareness of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other respiratory conditions. We want to help reduce people’s risk of developing these conditions, diagnose those who unfortunately have but are unaware, and help those already diagnosed to better manage their condition and reduce admissions to hospital.”
Dr Penny Woods, Chief Executive of the British Lung Foundation, said: “More than 12 million people are living with a lung condition in the UK. Many people don’t think about their lung health until it becomes a problem. That’s why we’re inviting everyone in Peterborough and Wisbech, who has felt breathless or has a persistent cough, to come down and join us at our Love Your Lungs, lung testing event.
“If people have any of these symptoms it may be nothing, but it’s always best to get checked out as soon as possible to catch anything at the earliest stage.”
