The Vaccinators on Tour team up with Cambridge Central Mosque and Superdrug to offer new walk-in clinics

The Vaccinators on Tour, the local NHS-powered mobile vaccination team, are teaming up with Cambridge Central Mosque and Superdrug to help local residents get protected against COVID-19 through a series of walk-in clinics.

Running on 28 and 29 July, the COVID-19 vaccination walk-in clinics are suitable for anyone aged 18 or above. People who want to get their vaccine do not need to book; they can simply turn up to get their jab. If you had your first dose of Pfizer or AstraZeneca at least 8 weeks ago, you can also walk in to get your second jab.

Dr Gary Howsam, Chair of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group, said:

“We’re delighted to be at Cambridge Central Mosque this week to offer even more people in our local community the life-saving vaccine. Anyone aged 18 or over is welcome to come get their jab, so if you’re in the area on Wednesday or Thursday please come along to get yours.

“All NHS COVID vaccines are highly effective against the Delta strain and other forms of the virus circulating in the UK. A recent study showed they have reduced hospital attendance by 94 per cent. It’s more important than ever that you get both doses of the vaccine – so if it’s been at least 8 weeks since you got your first Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccine, please make sure you walk in to get your second dose.”

A spokesperson at Cambridge Central Mosque said:

"We at Cambridge Central Mosque are pleased to be able to support the NHS in its national efforts to vaccinate as many people as possible to protect us from this dangerous virus.

“Our walk-in clinics are open to anyone aged 18 or over wishing to get their first or second dose of either the AstraZeneca or Pfizer vaccines.

“I’d also like to thank the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group, Superdrug and Local Council teams for making this possible. We hope and pray our efforts help to get us ever closer to emerging from this pandemic as swiftly and safely as possible.”

The walk-in clinics on 28 and 29 July at Cambridge Central Mosque will run between 8.30am-1pm and 2pm-5pm. Anyone aged 18 or above can attend, and second doses of Pfizer and AstraZeneca are available if you had your first dose at least 8 weeks ago.
