Across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, the health system has adapted services to keep patients and staff safe, including temporary changes to MIUs. From August, Ely MIU will continue to offer extended opening hours, changing to 8am – 8pm, and Wisbech MIU will be reopening in two weeks’ time.
Dr Gary Howsam, Chair of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said:
“The NHS is working hard to restart services that were temporarily closed or paused during the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Whilst COVID-19 has not gone away, it is important to reopen as many services as we can to support the health and wellbeing of our local community.
“We are pleased to confirm that Wisbech Minor Injury Unit will be reopening on Monday 17 August, from Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6pm with x-ray services available from 9am to 5pm, on those days. The opening hours for Ely Minor Injury Unit will remain extended from pre-COVID opening times, changing to 8am to 8pm seven days a week from Saturday 1 August, with x-ray services available from 8am to 6pm every day. We are also working on plans to reopen Doddington MIU during the autumn.”
MIU staff continue to follow Covid-19 risk assessments and guidance to ensure safe and secure working, with social distancing measures in place and wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
