Can’t get to your GP surgery during opening hours? New GP Hub provides evening and weekend appointments to Peterborough patients

Patients across Greater Peterborough now have access to evening and weekend GP and nurse appointments at the GP Hub, based at Boroughbury Medical Centre, Craig Street, Peterborough.

The GP Hub is a new GP-led evening and weekend service where local GPs and nurses offer a range of services for all patients registered with a GP practice in Greater Peterborough.

Appointments are available to book between 18:30 and 20:30 Monday to Friday and from 09:00 to 17:00 at weekends and on Bank Holidays. To book an appointment, patients simply need to phone their own practice as they would do normally and they will be advised of which appointments are available at the GP Hub.

Dr Sanath Yogasundram, local GP and Greater Peterborough Network Board Member, says: “Patients now have access to GP services seven days a week.  Not only is this great news for our patients but it also helps to ease pressure across the local NHS and help keep patients out of hospital. ”

The GP Hub is run by a group of GP surgeries in Greater Peterborough called the Greater Peterborough Network (GPN). Working in partnership with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), GPN was awarded national funding to provide an additional 130 hours of evening and weekend appointments per week with a GP or nurse, across Greater Peterborough.

Dr Sanath Yogasundram added “GP practices across Peterborough are now working together to help deliver much-needed extended access to GP services."

Patients should speak to their GP practice’s reception to find out more about booking appointments, they can visit www.greaterpeterboroughgps.nhs.uk, or find Peterborough GP Hub on Facebook.
