Guide to the local NHS for Gardeners heading to Secret Garden Party

Hopefully you won't need any medical help this weekend, but if you do, then here's what's available locally and how to access it.

Before you leave home

Make sure you bring a basic first aid kit with you, it won't take up much room but could save you a trip off site to buy essentials. You might want to include things to treat headaches, minor cuts, minor burns, sprains, toothache, sunburn, hay fever and upset stomachs. It's also a good idea to bring suncream, at least factor 15.

Do not forget to bring any medication you have to take regularly, with enough to last you over the weekend.

NHS 111

If it's not an emergency and you're not sure who can help, where is open or where it is, then call NHS 111. Open 24/7, 365 days a year, NHS 111 connects patients to a team of fully trained call advisers who are supported by experienced nurses, paramedics, and GPs.

They will ask questions to assess the symptoms, and give healthcare advice or direct the caller to a local NHS service. If necessary they can also call an ambulance or direct people straight to A&E. Calls to NHS 111 are free from a landline or mobile phone.

There are pharmacies in Huntingdon (the nearest town) which are open right across the weekend (including Saturday and Sunday). Pharmacies can help with a range of things including aches, hangovers, colds, emergency contraception, and non-prescription medication.
