Your choice in the NHS

If your GP needs to refer you for a physical or mental health condition, the NHS Constitution says you can choose which hospital or service you go to.
If your GP refers you - YOU CAN CHOOSE

Ask your GP, call the Choice E-referral manager on 01223 725571/01223 725572 or visit the NHS Patient Choice website  for more information.

You can view what choices are currently available to NHS patients in the NHS Choice Framework on GOV.UK. Here you'll also find information about when you can't choose, for example, if you need emergency care or if you are a member of the armed forces. Make sure you know which options apply to you.

For further information about your choices, visit the NHS website and look at the your rights to choice page.

The above webpage provides information on choosing the following care and treatment:

  • choice of GP
  • choosing a hospital or consultant
